General

Respond to all incoming calls (not recommended)

Using this option is extremely problematic in most cases. It is then no longer possible to operate another data transfer software under another number of this connection.

We strongly recommend to use this function only after consulting Bartsch Software.

Deactivate v42bis compression for X.75 Layer 2 (not recommended)

The Odette protocol uses the X.75 protocol in layer 2. The use of v42bis compression is not mandatory. Normally, the protocol setting is negotiated automatically between the two stations so that the connection is always established correctly, regardless of this feature. However, some implementations require v42bis to be fixed, so no transmission is possible without v42bis. If you choose to enable this option, you will disable v42bis. This can be useful for CAPI implementations that do not support this format or do not support it correctly.

On some older systems, the protocol must be enabled directly through the device driver setup.

Connection settings

MSN for incoming calls

If connected directly to an ISDN multi-device line, enter the phone number on which !MC5 should receive calls here. Multiple assignment with telephone or fax is permitted, but no other ISDN data transmission software (e.g. Fritz!Data) may use the same MSN.

If you are using an ISDN telephone system, you may have to enter an extension number that is defined in the telephone system (e.g. "22" or "124") instead of the complete phone number. In case of doubt, consult the documentation belonging to the system. If another dial-up software is already in operation, the settings can be adopted accordingly.

Full external number

Here the telephone number is to be entered in such a way, as one would dial it with a normal telephone with area code without the international prefix like "+49". The correct number would be, for example, 04316005780. This number is required for transmission to the partner in the higher protocol levels. In the case of an ISDN multi-device connection, this is usually identical to the number entered first.

Important notes on call numbers

Do not use the ISDN function call number suppression! Some large computer systems immediately reject incoming calls with an unknown call number! This may also happen if the telephone system only transmits the hunt group number.

With each change concerning the call numbers, e.g. connection of the PC with another ISDN connection, this must be entered in the online registration and sent. Trouble-free operation of the software is only guaranteed if the entered call number is actually available at the connection used.

External call prefix

If you are using a telephone system, it may be necessary to dial an external line access code for a connection from the internal telephone network. In this case, enter the corresponding exchange access code (usually 0) in this field. Leave the field empty if no exchange access code is required.

Controller settings

Use controller number

If the computer has multiple ISDN controllers, you can select which controller to use here. If the Multicontroller addon is licensed, further settings for the controllers can be made here.
