The automatic file transmission process

1.!MC5 checks the directories specified in the rules for direct file sending for matching files at regular intervals.

2.If a matching file is found, it is first moved to the outgoing directory of the corresponding partner and a send job is created for the file.

Handling of files that cannot be accessed

For each file found, !MC5 first checks whether the file can be accessed or whether it is still being used by another program, for example. If this is the case, this file is skipped and the file is checked again during the next search. If the same file could not be accessed three times in a row, a corresponding warning is generated. These warnings as well as a list of the files are displayed under"Settings / Automation" for the respective rules.

3.If any editing of the file is required, for example if a character set conversion is to be performed, or if the file needs to be encrypted, then it is next moved to the Prepare subfolder and a copy of the unedited file is created in the Original subfolder. Once the preparation is complete, the processed file is moved back to the original folder.

4.The send job is then executed. If the file was sent successfully, in case of an OFTP partner it is moved to the Sent subfolder, else directly to the subfolder Backup.

5.(only OFTP/OFTP2) It remains there until either an EERP or a NERP is received from the other side for the file.

6.(only OFTP/OFTP2) If the other side sends a NERP, the file is moved from Sent to the Error subfolder.

7.(only OFTP/OFTP2) If, on the other hand, the reception is successfully acknowledged with an EERP, then !MC5 moves the file to the Backup subfolder.

Only one rule is applied at a time

By applying the first matching dispatch rule, the corresponding file will be moved to the outgoing folder of the corresponding partner. This means that no further rules can be applied to the file. Therefore you should make sure that the search directory in combination with the search mask is unique for each rule. If a file matches several rules, it is not fixed which rule is applied first!
